Wooded Shore Shelter is a summer retreat for an artist. The architecture is inspired by forest rhythms and dune slopes. Large windows frame shifting lake and forest views, allowing sunlight to filter in through a canopy of leaves. Built-in planters and extended roof trellises with hanging vines, together with subdued colors and textures, root the home in its natural surroundings. A haven where shelter and art can coexist in harmony with nature and site.
Wooded Shore Shelter is a summer home designed for an artist and her family. Situated on a narrow-wooded lot on the Wisconsin shores of Lake Michigan, the home is designed to blend organically into the side of a natural dune overlooking the lake. Nestled among ancient pines and wind-bent birch, Wooded Shore Shelter offers a quiet refuge where the rustle of leaves blends with the rhythmic sound of waves. Natural materials blend with the natural features of the site. The architecture is inspired by forest rhythms and dune slopes.
