Overview
The program called for the design of a small companion table of "modern" design to be used for a cocktail and hors d'oeuvres which would resist being knocked over. The solution is a small table that utilizes a counterbalance to remain erect and wheels that allow it to move in order to accommodate external lateral forces without falling over. All of this ensures that the table remains in equilibrium.
The program called for the design of a small companion table of "modern" design to be used for a cocktail and hors d'oeuvres which would resist being knocked over. The solution is a small table that utilizes a counterbalance to remain erect and wheels that allow it to move in order to accommodate external lateral forces without falling over. Its top is a 12” diameter disk mounted 24” above the floor affixed atop a slender shaft fitted into a block which is suspended on a single axle supported by two wheels. The counter weights are affixed to the bottom of the block below the axle ensuring that the table remains in equilibrium.
