Romeoville Aquatic Center

The 22,000 sf Aquatic Center features an 11,400 sf natatorium which includes a show stopping internally-illuminated water slide with 150 foot ride length. A zero-depth entry zone provides wheelchair and youth access to multiple play features. An adjacent vortex pool and lazy river double as rehabilitation/exercise spaces for patrons requiring physical therapy or strengthening activities. A 3-lane 20 yd lap pool provides traditional aquatic opportunities and group programming space. An immersive “underwater” theme utilizes cool blue, aqua and purple tones, hanging transparent bubbles, color changing LED lighting, decorative perforated metal wave ceilings, and a custom-colored epoxy fleck flooring with anti-slip coating. The facility includes 2 multipurpose party rooms and a dedicated vending area with direct access to the natatorium. Due the nature of the facility, which encourages equitable access to all community members, it includes multiple all- gender toilet and changing rooms. A glazed guard office allows views to the pool deck to keep a watchful eye on bathers. The Aquatic Center features a welcoming lobby that continues the underwater theme, showcasing colorful wave ceilings and a custom graphic wallcovering. The inviting reception desk has translucent blue solid surface materials for durability and a back -lit, crushed sea-glass accent panel. Glass transaction windows at the service desk provide a level of safety to staff and evoke a “fish-bowl” feeling.
