Station 19 Architects, Inc. · Blaine, MN

Overview

The Church has expanded to welcome more of its thriving community, doubling its capacity and creating spaces that invite connection and warmth. The new entrances and light-filled interiors foster a sense of openness, while thoughtful design elements guide people smoothly through the building. Despite the challenges of construction, the church remained a vital community hub, and the result is a welcoming space that enhances connection and supports the church’s mission to bring people together.

This Church has expanded and transformed to better serve its vibrant community, doubling its capacity to welcome more people into its fold. The three new additions were designed with the community in mind, creating spaces that naturally draw people in and encourage connection. The entrances, flanked by large gathering spaces, serve as inviting transitions from the outside world to the warmth and light within, where natural light pours through expansive windows, brightening the interiors and creating an atmosphere of openness and welcome. Inside, the remodeled spaces are both functional and inviting, with thoughtful touches like natural wood tones and pops of color that add warmth and character. The design ensures smooth movement through the building, guiding people effortlessly from one area to another and reducing bottlenecks. This careful planning helps everyone, from the youngest children to the elderly, feel comfortable and at ease as they navigate the church. The phased construction approach allowed the church to remain a vibrant hub for the community throughout the renovation, with outdoor services bringing people together even as the work progressed. The technical challenges, including expanding tight hallways and addressing site infrastructure, were met with creative solutions that ensured the new spaces not only meet current needs but also foster deeper community connections for years to come.
