Captivating New Construction
Morgante Wilson Architects · Wilmette, IL
Overview
This home is new construction on a unique site in a traditional neighborhood for a young family that prefers fun and interesting shapes and materials to static and staid construction.
This project was a newly constructed residence for a couple with 3 small children on a suburban cul-de-sac. The clients required a home for their growing family as well as for entertaining large groups of friends and family members. The clients loved the traditional homes in the neighborhood, but requested a house that was more transitional in design. The clients preferred a complex palette of interesting finishes to liven up the home and wanted to create a fun backdrop for house parties. The nature of the unique site, tangent to a roundabout, created challenges and opportunities with the manner in which the adjacent homes were related to each other (on slight angles). The approach to the house from the main road would not be straight-on, but rather viewed from the corner.
