Bucks County Courthouse Conversion to Administration Space

The County had recently completed a new consolidated courthouse building which when completed and occupied by the courts, left the two existing courts buildings with considerable space for needed expansion and right sizing of the existing county functions within the buildings, and consolidation of off-site functions into these two buildings. The Design Team executed a master plan for the conversion of the existing courthouses for use by law enforcement and county administrative functions. The phasing plan included strategies for interim and final moves of agencies, a systems master plan for upgrading the existing HVAC and electrical systems and the implementation of a new, building-wide, fire suppression system. The master plan included a housing strategy for all the county’s administrative functions and a phasing plan that allowed the work to be executed while the current functions that remained housed in the structures continued full operations. Phase One was the complete gut and renovation of the Family Court building, which has been completed and now houses the county’s detectives. Phase Two was the gut and renovation of Levels 1, 4, 5, 6 and 7 of the larger court building. Phase Three completed the renovation of the larger courthouse with the full renovation of Levels 2 and 3.
