The elementary school opened in August 2022 to relieve overcrowding from new subdivisions being constructed throughout the school district. The design team was asked to review the prototypical building, constructed in the school district twice before, and determine what advancements could be made to address the ever-evolving needs of the district. While maintaining a similar footprint, break-out spaces for all grade levels were created throughout the building, the lobby sequence was enhanced, wayfinding improved, and unique study spaces were incorporated both inside and outside the building. Meeting the latest code requirements, the 101,650 square foot building for grades Pre-K through 5th grade was designed with an ICC500-2014 Community Storm Shelter. The building was initially designed for a future addition which was phased in immediately after construction started which allowed the entire facility to be completed for the Fall 2022 school year.
