City of Countryside Municipal Complex

The City of Countryside Municipal Complex is a combined, 34,638 sf city administration and police headquarters. The site was strategically selected to be a catalyst for future development for the city and be an educational hub for sustainable design. The contemporary design is welcoming to all visitors with a two-story entry lobby that is full of natural light and features educational displays about the facility’s sustainable LEED Gold design and aspirational Net-Zero Energy design elements. The concept for the design was to create a LEED Gold facility that would act as an anchor for development and be a place to learn about sustainability for the community which the city serves. The City of Countryside Municipal Complex successfully achieved these goals through its timeless design which drew inspiration from prairie style architecture. The use of natural materials such as limestone and wood convey a welcoming feel to visitors to the building. The project incorporated museum type educational signage for adults and kids to gain an understanding of the sustainable design features of the facility. City staff captured the spirit of the effort with the following statement; “The city’s commitment to sustainability is critically important to the future community and future development in the city and surrounding region. The City of Countryside is leading the way to a sustainable future.”
