Overview
This adaptive re-use renovation transformed 8,500 s.f. of a former UAW building into a Catholic radio station's headquarters. The design honors the building's existing architecture while enhancing functionality and incorporating a Catholic identity. Highlights include a new Lobby, Visitor's Gallery with A/V monitors, and a Chapel with custom- designed liturgical furnishings and artwork. The renovation supports the radio station’s mission of spreading Christ’s message to the world through modern media, including daily live-streamed Masses.
This project is for an international Catholic radio station and global media center. Since November of 2000, they have been evangelizing the world by providing informative, entertaining, and interactive programming 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and this adaptive re-use renovation transformed 70% of a former United Auto Workers (UAW) building's first floor into our client's new primary recording studios and corporate headquarters to achieve the following programmatic goals: - Renovated Entrance Lobby - Kitchen - Welcome Center - Visitors’ Gallery - Chapel seating 70 people - Sacristy and Confessional - Multi-purpose Assembly/Creative Space - 3 Radio Studios - 2 Control Rooms - Video Production Studio - 2 Editing Studios - Call Screener Space - Technical Operations Center - Engineering Space - Phone Attendant Station - Mailing/Shipping Area - Renovated Restrooms Type of Construction Renovation/Addition
