Overview
The residence presents a quiet and restrained one level street front, opening up to a walkout with sweeping views of and access to the lake at the backside. To maximize indoor/outdoor living and support the family’s living from season to season, multiple dynamic stackable sliders were employed on the lakeside of the home to effectively blur the traditional boundary between inside and outside space, encouraging true indoor/outdoor living.
Engaging the lakefront site in a respectful way, the residence presents a quiet and restrained one level street front, opening up to a walkout with sweeping views of and access to the lake at the backside. Three vertical massing elements help to organize and define the program inside the home, reinforcing the permeability of light and views and the relationship to the lake. To contrast the transparency and direct visual access on the main level, a horizontal clerestory window language was developed to provide diffuse, private light throughout.
