Overview

Highland Park Modern is a 4 unit, attached single family enclave which are designed around private courtyards for indoor/outdoor living. The design is a barrier fee, suburban/urban solution and is located within a short walk of Downtown Highland Park and a Metra train stop to Downtown Chicago. Homes are accessible to accommodate any age and mobility ability without feeling institutional.

HP Modern is a new construction, 4 home attached single family courtyard enclave in a suburb north of Chicago within a short walk of the local downtown area and the Metra commuter train line to Chicago. It is a manageable, barrier free Suburban/Urban solution alternative to the large house sitting on an expansive piece of land which is typical to the area. Homes are designed to be accessible to any age and mobility level without feeling institutional. Typical plans have primary bedrooms, laundries as well as living, dining, and kitchen spaces on grade level with direct access to a private courtyard. Each house has 2,500 sf of space above grade plus a basement and has 4 bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths and an attached 2 car garage. Living rooms, dining rooms and primary bedrooms face south through floor to ceiling glass which is shaded by a broad overhanging overlooking private landscaped courtyards. The layout promotes efficient utilization of the entire property and encourages indoor-outdoor living. The second level has two bedrooms and a bath adjacent to a 550 square foot roof deck that overlooks the courtyard below. The courtyard and roof deck are connected with a distinctive steel stair allowing easy circulation flow. The basement contains mechanical rooms, storage rooms and an additional bedroom, bathroom and large recreation room.
